His wit and satire, in prose and in speech, earned praise from critics and peers. "The Tragedy of Pudd'nhead Wilson" is a novel about two boys from the fictional Missouri town of Dawson's Landing. One, born into slavery, with a small amount of black ancestry. The other is white, born to be the master of the house.
